Graphene oxide-based waveguides for enhanced self-phase modulation

The enhanced self-phase modulation (SPM) in silicon nitride (Si3N4) and (Si) waveguides integrated with graphene oxide (GO) films is experimentally demonstrated. By using both picosecond femtosecond optical pulses, we observe significant spectral broadening the due to high Kerr nonlinearity of GO films. maximum factors up ~3.4 ~4.3 are achieved GO-coated Si3N4 Si waveguides, respectively. for pulses more than which can be attributed their relatively peak power. These results show strong potential improving photonic devices.
